Redshred’s PRELUDE System Awarded Army Contract to Transform Prompt Development and Management

June 10, 2025

[BALTIMORE, MD] - JUNE 10, 2025 - Redshred, a leading provider of API-first AI-powered document intelligence solutions, announced it has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the United States Army to develop PRELUDE (Prompt Recording and Engineering for LLM Upgrades and Development Environment), an innovative system which streamlines data extraction and prompt engineering for military and commercial applications.

The PRELUDE system addresses the Army's critical need for advanced testing and development capabilities for Large Language Models (LLMs) by introducing sophisticated prompt engineering methodologies and comprehensive data tracking and integration solutions.  This technology breakthrough will enable military personnel to accelerate their workflows for leveraging and tailoring generative AI through effective, traceable, sustainable, and reusable prompt workflows without the hassle of repeat or prolonged prompt exploration, even in classified environments.

"This contract represents a significant opportunity to advance the state of artificial intelligence development for both military and commercial applications," said Jim Kukla, CTO of Redshred. "PRELUDE will democratize generative AI use even further by empowering Army personnel with the full potential of language models without requiring extensive coding expertise, all while maintaining rigorous standards for prompt management and model evaluation."

The PRELUDE system:

  • Enables the development of Course of Action Analyses (COAAs) or performs scene classification;
  • Allows end users to author their own LLM-powered classification models;
  • Allows operators in classified environments avoid the hassle of finding cleared developers;
  • Makes prompt-based model development more reliable and portable;
  • Supports operations in classified environments;
  • Enables above and beyond asking questions of documents;
  • Enables select data for use in indirectly classified data by allowing cleared personnel without extensive software development expertise to create classified LLMs; and
  • Provides a low-/no-code environment to allow the DoD to develop organic capabilities in LLM-powered solutions.

These capabilities directly address the Army’s need for new ways of implementing, constructing, and testing Large Language Models (LLM) and their prompts during prompt discovery in less time with standardized access and evaluation pipelines.

During Phase I, Redshred will demonstrate the feasibility of the PRELUDE system by processing data through their existing platform, generating and classifying prompts, and implementing specialized tools for fine-tuning and tracking.

This advancement offers transformative benefits by enhancing data-driven decision-making, streamlining generative AI usage, and accelerating decision making by empowering users to do above and beyond exploration of their documents.

Beyond military applications, this capability supports industries such as healthcare, finance, and logistics, where rapid data interpretation and no code/low code generative AI usage can lead to better resource allocation, risk management, and customer service.
