RedShred Awarded Navy Phase II SBIR Contract for ABDREAM System, Expanding Portfolio of AI-Powered Maintenance Solutions

November 14, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Baltimore, MD – November 14, 2025 – Redshred, a leading provider of AI-powered document intelligence solutions, has been awarded a Phase II SBIR from the U.S. Navy to advance development of the Aircraft Battle Damage Repair: Essential Archive for Maintenance (ABDREAM) system.

ABDREAM builds on Redshred’s AI/ML portfolio of defense technology projects, including SIFTED (Semantic Information for Faults, Troubleshooting, and Extraction from Documents) for naval aviation maintenance and training tools developed with DARPA’s Perceptually Enabled Task Guidance program.

Redshred’s system will provide Aircraft Battle Damage Repair (ABDR) teams, Fleet Support Teams (FSTs), and Fleet Readiness Centers (FRCs) with a comprehensive and synced database of maintenance documentation even with limited or no connectivity to home station, addressing a critical operational challenge for the Navy.

Integrated Maintenance Intelligence Ecosystem

ABDREAM complements Redshred's existing capabilities by focusing on data accessibility and synchronization. While SIFTED accelerates the development workflow for engineering requests by analyzing historical repair archives, ABDREAM ensures that authoritative documentation reaches maintainers even in communications-constrained environments.

“We’re creating a comprehensive approach to maintenance intelligence,” said Jim Kukla, CTO of Redshred. “ABDREAM provides instant access to authoritative information for maintenance teams, right when and where they need it, even in the most challenging operational environments. Whereas, SIFTED supports teams with streamlined repair instruction development. And all of these capabilities are available via API to amplify other deployed solutions.”

The ABDREAM system leverages RedShred's documents-as-a-database platform and advanced neurosymbolic computing capabilities to transform complex technical documentation into searchable, analyzable archives accessible in any operational environment.
